Abstract

The Web3 technologies promise decentralization, ownership, and privacy by design; however, they also introduce significant challenges in usability and accessibility. Despite the rapid proliferation of decentralized applications (DApps), mainstream adoption remains limited—primarily due to poor user experience (UX). This paper investigates the key UX challenges in the Web3 ecosystem, including complex onboarding, lack of standardized design patterns, and opaque transaction processes. Furthermore, it highlights emerging solutions and innovations aimed at improving UX. Through analysis of real-world DApps and supporting tools, this study offers insights and actionable directions for designing more intuitive and user-centric decentralized applications. Nonetheless, this decentralized framework presents various user experience (UX) challenges, such as intricate wallet configuration, key management, and understanding transactions. In contrast to conventional applications, decentralized applications (DApps) frequently necessitate users to maneuver through unfamiliar interfaces and concepts, potentially obstructing widespread adoption. This study examines the primary UX obstacles and possible opportunities within Web3, emphasizing the enhancement of user engagement and adoption via user-centered design, usability improvements, and accessible onboarding procedures.
